Swimming: LaGrange teams hosting Panther Invitational on Saturday

The LaGrane swim teams will host the Panther Invitational on Saturday at the Charles Hudson Natatorium.

Joining LaGrange in the meet are Berry, Darton and South Georgia. The meet begins at 11 a.m.

The Panther teams competed last Friday against Brenau, Berry, South Georgia and Greensboro. Swimmers of the meet for the Panthers were Madison Brasselle and Devin James.

Brasselle and James both swam in  the 500-yard freestyle event and had significant drops in times since the Sewanee meet the week before. Brasselle was sixth in the 500, while James was eighth.

Brasselle was 10th in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 200 free relay with Haley Dent, Leslie Rhodes and Becky Robertson.

James swam in both the 200 and 400 medley relay events. The relay team of James, Josh Lebetter, Blake Shuler and Joe Strickland were fourth in both events.

Haley Dent swam in the 200 individual medley for the first time, finishing 11th. She swam a personal best in the 200 breaststroke; dropping more than six seconds to finish fifth.

Ledbetter was eighth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 200 individual medley, dropping more than two seconds for another personal best in the event.

Sara Morton trimmed seven seconds off her time in the 500 free from last week's meet in Sewanee. Leslie Rhodes competed after just four days of practice after finishing volleyball season. She took eighth in the 100 butterfly. She also swam in the 400 medley relay with  Dent, Robertson and Paige Castle for a third place finish in the event.
