SEWANEE, Ga. – The LaGrange swim teams participated in the 11th annual Sewanee Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The 12-team meet was hosted by the University of the South.
Senior Josh Ledbetter broke his own team record by dropping 16 seconds in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 5:23.64. Ledbetter also swam personal bests in the 50 breast stroke and 100 individual medley earning a total of 11 individual points. He participated in two relays with teammates Devin James, Blake Shuler and Joe Strickland which earned 48 points for the team.
For the women, junior Haley Dent swam two personal bests in the 50 breaststroke and in the 100 individual medley while earning 20 individual points. She dropped 2.5 seconds off her previous best time in the 100 individual medley.
The women's 100 freestyle relay team of Dent, Madison Brasselle, Paige Castle and Becky Robertson finished sixth earning 26 points. The 200 medley relay team of Dent Brasselle, Robertson and Sara Morton had an eighth place finish earning 22 points.
Brasselle swam a personal best in the 50 butterfly dropping 2.9 seconds off her previous best time. She earned seven individual points in the 50 free, 200 free and 200 individual medley.
Castle swam for three personal bests in the 500 butterfly, 50 free and 100 free. She earned nine points for her finish in the 100 butterfly.
James earned points in the 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Strickland had a personal best in the 50 breast stroke.
