LaGrange split a USA South doubleheader with Greensboro on Saturday at the LC Softball Complex. The Panthers held on for a 6-5 victory in the first game, while the Pride gained a split with a 5-2 win in the second game.
The Panthers (5-13, 4-6 USA South) used a five-run first inning to wipe out a 2-0 deficit in the first game. Katelin Richardson opened the inning with a double and scored one out later as Amber Arnold also doubled. With the bases loaded, Adrienne Little cleared the bases with the third double of the inning to make it 4-2. Taylor Tallent's RBI single drove in Little with the final run of the inning.
In the third, Kelsey Dietz led off with a single. She later came around to score on a base hit by Richardson to put the Panthers up 6-3.
Chelsea Twardoski (5-6) pitched the first four innings to get the win. She allowed five runs, four of those earned, and struck out one. Emily Cauldwell threw three scoreless innings to pick up her second save of the season.
Twardoski also started the second game. She went five innings in taking the loss, surrendering three runs on seven hits. Jessica Perkins allowed two runs in two innings to close out the game.
Emily Barrs accounted for the Panthers' runs with a two-run home run in the fourth inning to make it a one-run game. The home run was Barrs' team-leading sixth of the season.
The Panthers host Averett in a USA South doubleheader Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
