Softball: Panthers sweep Judson to close out regular season

LaGrange closed out the regular season with a pair of 8-0 wins over visiting Judson on Tuesday at the LaGrange College Softball Complex.

The Panthers (25-14) run-ruled the Eagles (11-21) in both games, winning the first in five innings and the second in six innings.

Emily Cauldwell (1-1) pitched all five innings in the first game. She allowed five hits, walked one and struck out two.

Kara Patterson (3-2) also had a complete game in the second game. Patterson gave up four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out one.

Jessica Smith led the Panthers' 11-hit attack in the first game. Smith was 3-for-3 with two doubles and drove in five runs. Danielle Newbern had a pair of hits, while Brooke Turner scored three times.

The Panthers tied their season high for the third time with 18 hits in the second game. Newbern and Emily Barrs each had three hits. Smith, Turner, Christy Flick, and Adrienne Little all had two hits.

The Panthers now await May 4 to find out their destination for the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
