LaGrange celebrated Senior Day with a sweep of Maryville in a USA South doubleheader Saturday at the LaGrange College Softball Complex.
The Panthers (16-10, 11-7 USA South) took the first game 8-0 in five inning, then got a walk-off double from Dani Gravett to win the second game 2-1.
Wolf improved to 8-7 in the first game, scattering six hits, striking out two and not walking a batter. Newbern and Alison Jiles provided home runs to back Wolfe's pitching.
Jiles led off the second inning with her second home run of the season. Newbern's fourth of the season, a three-run blast, highlighted a five-run third inning. Gravett and Flick had RBI singles in the inning.
The Panthers got a pair of unearned runs in the fourth to go up 8-0. After Gravett singled and Newbern doubled, both runners scored on an errant pick off throw.
In the second game, Maryville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off Gravett (6-1). The Panthers tied the game in their half of the second when Wolfe scored on a passed ball.
It remained 1-1 until the Panthers' half of the seventh. With one out, Hogan reached on an infield hit and moved up to second on a ground out. Gravett then doubled to the base of the right field fence as Hogan came around to score the winning run.
The Panthers play at Huntingdon on Tuesday in a USA South doubleheader.
