Softball: Panthers run winning streak to seven by blanking Wesleyan twice

MACON, Ga. - LaGrange ran its winning streak to seven with 10-0 and 7-0 wins at Wesleyan on Sunday.The Panthers (7-1) have won their last three games all by shutouts.

In the first game, Kara Patterson and Olivia Wolfe (2-0) combined on a five-inning no-hitter. Dani Gravett and Patterson combined on the two-hit shutout in the second game to complete the sweep of the Wolves (0-5).

The Panthers banged out 11 hits at the plate in taking the first game. Christy Flick and Kalin Oglesby each had two hits, while Wolfe had a double.

Leading 1-0, the Panthers exploded for eight runs in the third to break the game open. They added their final run in the fourth. The Wolves committed four errors in the game, leading to seven unearned runs.

Gravett (2-1) went five innings to get the win in the second game. She gave up the two hits, walked two and struck out four. Patterson closed out the sweep with two scoreless innings, striking out two. 

Gravett also had two hits, including a double, at the plate. Alison Jiles also had a double as the Panthers finished with six hits.

The Panthers host Meredith on Saturday, March 1 and William Peace on Sunday, March 2 in USA South doubleheaders.
