Softball: Panthers split doubleheader at Berry

ROME, Ga. - Kayla Folds threw a two-hitter in leading LaGrange (11-19) to a 6-0 win over Berry on Sunday and a split of a non-conference doubleheader. The Vikings won the first game 8-0.

Folds threw her third straight shutout in upping her record to 6-11. She was 3-0 for the week, allowing 11 hits in 19 innings, while walking none and striking out 24.

The Panthers did all of their scoring in the second inning. They had eight hits in the inning, scoring all of the runs with two outs.

Hanna Patterson and Courtney Beshel led off the inning with singles. Lindsey Hogan kept the inning going with a run-scoring double. Kelbi Burgering followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0.

After a base hit by Danielle Newbern, Folds made it 5-0 with a base hit driving in two runs. Megan Wing capped the inning with another RBI single to put the Panthers up 6-0.

Folds retired the first 10 batters she faced before giving up a hit in the fourth inning. She gave up a second hit in the sixth inning.

The Panthers finished with 11 hits. Burgering, Folds and Patterson all had two hits.
