WALESKA, Ga.- Reinhardt University swept a doubleheader from LaGrange College on Wednesday. The Panthers fell to 1-5 after playing their second straight NAIA opponent.
Reinhardt took the first game 3-0, then finished the sweep with a 6-0 win in the second game. The Eagles improved to 4-0 on the season.
Kayla Folds (1-3) pitched all 12 innings for the Panthers. She allowed 15 hits, six earned runs, walked three and struck out five.
In the first game, Reinhardt scored a run in each of the first three innings. The Panthers had four hits in the game, with only Emmie Trull reaching second. Trull singled in the sixth, stole second but was stranded.
The Panthers best scoring chance of the day came in the fourth inning of the second game. Megan Wing and Danielle Newbern reached on back-to-back walks. Kelbi Burgering reached on a two-out single to load the bases but Eagles' pitcher Holle Brannon struck out Laura Webber to end the threat.
The Eagles pushed across a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 1-0. They broke the game open with five runs in the sixth, taking advantage of three Panther errors in the inning.
The Panthers finished the doubleheader with seven hits. Burgering and Newbern each had two hits.
The Panthers play at Agnes Scott in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.
