Softball: 2011 team awards announced

Head coach Jennifer Claybrook announced team awards for the 2011 season at the team's banquet Monday.

Seniors Katie Hein and Katie Ison shared the Phillip R. Williamson Most Valuable Player Award. Hein batted .421 with two home runs and 18 RBIs in an injury-shortened season. Ison batted .398 with 12 RBIs and led the team with 15 stolen bases. Hein also received the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player award, while Ison received the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player award.

Three players received the Panther Award for consistency throughout the year and excellence in postseason play. Receiving the awards were: Olivia McGehee, Kayla Folds and Megan Wing.

Two players received Coaches Awards. Seniors Shanna Brumbelow and Kristen Woodard each received the award.
