Softball: Panthers swept by Huntingdon in GSAC doubleheader

Huntingdon swept a Great South Athletic Conference doubleheader from LaGrange on Thursday at the LC Softball Complex. The Lady Hawks (23-13, 10-2 GSAC) won the first game 4-1 and completed the sweep with a 9-0 second game win.

The losses dropped the Panthers to 19-14 overall and 7-5 in the GSAC. The Panthers will be the fourth seed at next weekend's conference tournament. Huntingdon will be the second seed in the tournament.

Kayla Folds took the loss for the Panthers in the first game. She gave up three runs in four innings, walking none and striking out three.

Lacee Landrum pitched two innings, allowing a run on two hits. Amanda Stukel threw a scoreless inning.

The Panthers had five hits in the first game. Katie Ison was 2-for-3 with a double and scored the only run. Shanna Brumbelow had an RBI single.

Danielle LaDuron started the second game for the Panthers. She was hurt by two errors in the first inning leading to four unearned runs.

Stukel pitched 4-2/3 innings in relief of LaDuron. She allowed two runs, only one earned, and three hits. Landrum gave up two earned runs in two innings of relief.

The Panthers also had five hits in the second game. Five different hitters had the hits, with none for extra bases.

The Panthers play at Covenant on Friday. They close out the regular season Tuesday against Emory for Senior Night.
