Softball: Panthers fall in 2011 opener to Reinhardt

Reinhardt spoiled LaGrange's 2011 season opening doubleheader Tuesday at the LaGrange College Softball Complex. The Lady Eagles swept the two games by scores of 8-0 and 6-0.

Reinhardt (9-2), ranked 28th in NAIA, had 20 hits in the two games. The Lady Eagles had four different players with three hits each. Andrea Thibaudeau had a home run, while Nikki Roddy had a double and a triple.

The Panthers had three hits in each game. Shanna Brumbelow and Katie Ison each had a double.

Danielle LaDuron (0-1) took the loss in the first game. LaDuron allowed seven runs, six of those earned, in three innings. She gave up eight hits, did not walk a batter and struck out one.

Kristen Woodard allowed an unearned run in two innings, as the game ended on the 8-run mercy rule after five innings. Woodard gave up two hits and walked two.

Lacee Landrum (0-1) started the second game. Landrum allowed four runs on five hits in three innings. Kayla Folds allowed two runs in three innings. Brumbelow threw a scoreless seventh inning.

The Panthers host Division II Georgia Southwestern on Saturday. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.
