Panthers drop two games at Reinhardt to open 2010 season

The Eagles' Maddie Monroe pitched a six-inning perfect game, setting down all 18 Panthers she faced. Kristen Woodard (0-1) took the loss for the Panthers. She allowed five runs in three innings. Danielle LaDuron allowed three runs, two earned in two innings of work.

In the second game, the Panthers rallied to tie the game 2-2 with two runs in the top of the third inning. Katie Hein and Katie Ison had RBI singles in the inning.

Reinhardt came back to score 10 runs in its half of the third inning. The game was called after five innings because of the 8-run mercy rule. Kayla Folds allowed all 12 runs in 2-1/3 innings. Only five of the runs were earned, as the Panthers committed three errors in the game. Woodard and LaDuron finished out the game for the Panthers.

The Panthers had four hits in the second game. Holly Hazlewood had two hits in three trips to the plate. Hein and Ison had the other two hits.

The Panthers host Rhodes College in a doubleheader next Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
