Panthers sweep Agnes Scott 9-0 and 10-0

Shanna Brumbelow and Kristen Woodard pitched complete games to get the wins for the Panthers. Brumbelow allowed four hits, walked one and struck out seven in the first game. Woodard scattered six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out two in the second game.

The Panthers had 19 hits in the doubleheader. Holly Hazelwood had five hits for the Panthers. She was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and driven in each in the first game.

The Panthers built a 7-0 lead after two innings in the first game. Kayla Yeargin's bases loaded hit in the first inning drove in the first three runs. In the second, Hazelwood had a two-run double as part of a four-run inning.

Hazelwood led off the fourth with a single. She stole second and scored as Brumbelow reached on an error. Hazelwood's RBI single in the fifth scored Emmie Trull with the Panthers' final run.

In the second game, the Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Valeree Williams drove in the first run with a single. Brumbelow drove in two more runs with a double.

The Panthers went up 6-0 in the fourth. Katie Ison doubled in Olivia McGehee, who had led off the inning with a single. The Panthers took advantage of two errors by the Scotties to score two more runs in the inning.

The Panthers closed out the scoring with four runs in the fifth inning. Ison and Williams each had run-scoring singles in the inning. Brumbelow drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Panthers host Truett-McConnell on Thursday in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
