Men's Soccer: Panthers keep conference tournament hopes alive with 3-2 win at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. - LaGrange kept its USA South tournament hopes alive with a 3-2 win at Ferrum in a key conference match Sunday.

The Panthers (5-10-1, 2-6-1 USA South) are now two points back of Ferrum (5-13, 3-7 USA South) for the eighth and final spot in the upcoming conference tournament. LC can take the final spot with a win over visiting Methodist on Wednesday in the regular season final. 

Freshman Errick Sturm had two goals for the Panthers and now leads the team with eight. Sturm's first goal tied the match 1-1 in the first half.

The Panthers built a 3-1 lead in the second half. Dale Cook's second goal of the season in the 70th minute broke the tie. Seven minutes later, Sturm scored his second goal to give the Panthers a two-goal cushion. Ferrum cut the lead to one just 20 seconds later, but the Panthers held on for the win.
