Men's Soccer: Torres' goal gives Panthers thrilling 2-1 overtime USA South win against Piedmont

LaGrange picked up its first USA South win of the season with a 2-1 overtime thriller over Piedmont at Panther Field on Saturday.

Sophomore Diego Torres ended the game eight minutes into the overtime period. He took a pass from Raymond Haas and headed the ball into the goal for the game winner. It was Torres' first goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Bonner Brooks had eight saves in the match for the Panthers (2-12, 1-6 USA South). He recorded four of them in the overtime period to keep the Panthers in the match.

Daniel Provence's goal off an assist from Kristian Javier in the 63rd minute had tied the match. Piedmont (3-8-3, 2-5-1 USA South) had held a 1-0 lead since the eighth minute of the match.

The match was the final home one of the season. The Panthers play at Methodist and N.C. Wesleyan next Saturday and Sunday in USA South matches.
