Men's Soccer: Ferrum outlasts Panthers 3-2 in USA South contest

FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum outlasted LaGrange 3-2 in a USA South game Sunday. The Panthers, now 1-8-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play, finished 0-2 on their weekend conference road trip.

The Panthers started quickly. Freshman Benjamin Memmler headed in a shot for a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the game. Raymond Haas' pass set up the goal.

Ferrum tied the game in the 20th minute and the two teams went to halftime tied 1-1. The host Panthers put together two goals in a four minute span in the second half to go up 3-1.

The Panthers got one of the goals back in the waning seconds of the game. David Flores scored his team-leading fourth goal unassisted for the 3-2 final.

Ferrum had a 41-16 shot advantage in the game. Panther goalkeeper A.J. Wilson had 12 saves in the game.

The Panthers host Piedmont at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a USA South game.
