Men's Soccer: Panthers, Florida College battle to 2-2 tie

LaGrange and visiting Florida College battled to a 2-2 tie Thursday night in the final non-conference game for the Panthers (1-6-1).

First year coach Matthew Evans was facing his old school, where he coached for four years before coming to LaGrange.

The Panthers got off to a fast start. David Flores scored less than four minutes into the game with an assist from Joshua Robles to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons (6-5-1) with two goals from Jean Paul Pelletier to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Panthers got the equalizer. Kristian Javier beat two defenders and put his shot past the Falcon goalkeeper to tie the game at 2-2.

The Falcons had a shot go off the post in the waning seconds of regulation. In the overtime periods, Panther goalkeeper A.J. Wilson turned away two potential game winners. He finished the game with 12 saves.

The Panthers open USA South play on the road against William Peace and Ferrum on Saturday and Sunday.
