Men's Soccer: Haas, Robles score as Panthers open 2014 season against Louisiana College

JACKSON, Miss. - The 2014 men's soccer season under new head coach Matthew Evans kicked off on a rainy Saturday against Louisiana College on the campus of Millsaps College.

Junior Raymond Haas and sophomore Joshua Robles scored for the Panthers in the 4-2 loss to the Wildcats. 

Sophomore A.J. Wilson had seven saves in goal for the Panthers. Louisiana finished the game with a 22-5 shot advantage.

The Wildcats opened the scoring eight minutes into the game. Haas answered for the Panthers with an assist from Adrian Vakerics to tie the game 1-1.

Louisiana went ahead 2-1 in the 38th minute and took the lead into halftime. The Wildcats scored 13 minutes in to the second half to extend their lead to 3-1.

It remained that score until under 10 minutes left in the game. Robles cut the Wildcats lead to one, 3-2, with an unassisted goal. The goal was the first collegiate one for Robles.

The Wildcats closed out the scoring two minutes later for the 4-2 final.

The Panthers face Millsaps on Sunday. They host Sewanee on Thursday at 7 p.m.
