Men's Soccer: Panthers push Concordia-Selma to two overtimes

SELMA, Ala. - LaGrange battled NAIA member Concordia-Selma into two overtimes Saturday. The host Hornets got a late goal in the second overtime to edge the Panthers (2-4-1) 2-1.

Freshman Melvin Bass gave the Panthers a 1-0 halftime lead. Bass beat goalkeeper Fredy Mendoza after taking a cross pass from the right middle off the foot of Keith Sims. The goal was the fourth of the season for Bass, who leads the team in scoring.

Concordia got the tying goal in the 86th minute from Stanley Benjamin. Ogundipe Olajunle got the game-winner with four minutes left in the second overtime.

Goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had 10 saves for the Panthers. He faced 26 shots with 12 being on goal.

The Panthers host Covenant on Saturday and Ferrum on Sunday in USA South matches.
