Men's Soccer: Panthers, University of the South have defensive struggle

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - LaGrange and the the University of the South (Sewanee) locked up in a defensive struggle Saturday on the campus of Birmingham-Southern. The Tigers (1-3-2) made an early second half goal stand up for a 1-0 win.

Panther goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had his shutout streak end at three matches. Palmer, though, has surrendered only two goals in his last 439 minutes of play. He had five saves against Sewanee.

The Panthers were out shot 21-9 in the match, but only 6-5 in on  goal shots. Adrian Vakerics had two of the Panther shots on goal.

The Panthers play at Birmingham-Southern on Sunday.
