Men's Soccer: Panthers end season with loss to Maryville in GSAC tournament

Top-seeded Maryville ended LaGrange's 2011 season with a 2-0 win in the semifinals of the GSAC Championship Tournament at Panther Field on Friday. The Panthers finished 2-14, while the Scots improved to 13-4-2.

Goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had seven saves for the Panthers. Palmer was playing in his first game after missing the final two regular season games with an injury. Maryville out shot the Panthers 13-5 in the game and had a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.

Jake Holt scored both goals for the Scots. He scored in the first half with an assist from Payne Fisher. Holt added an unassisted insurance goal in the opening minute of the second half for the 2-0 margin.

The four-time defending champion Scots will play Huntingdon in the championship at 4:30 p.m.
