ATLANTA, Ga.- Oglethorpe got three first half goals and went on to a 4-1 win over LaGrange at Salamone Field on Wednesday. The Panthers dropped to 2-12 on the season, while the 25th-ranked Stormy Petrels improved to 14-2.
Oglethorpe got two goals from Nick Williamson in winning its 11th straight match and setting a school record for wins. Carlos Gaston had a goal and an assist. Niko Papanikolopoulos had the Petrels' other goal.
The Panthers' goal came in the first half. Brock Morris' free kick from the mid-line was misdirected by the Petrel defender for an own goal. The goal was the first for the Panthers since a 2-0 win over Tennessee Temple on Oct. 1.
Oglethorpe had a 42-7 shot advantage in the match, including 21-4 on goal edge. Panther goalkeeper Thomas Humberstone had 15 saves in his first start of the season, playing for the injured Donnie Palmer.
The Panthers close out the regular season at Piedmont on Thursday. The Panthers host the GSAC championship tournament on Nov. 4-5.
