Men's Soccer: Panthers down Tennessee Temple 2-0

LaGrange College did all of its scoring in the second half to down Tennessee Temple 2-0 on Saturday at Panther Field. The Panthers (2-7) got goals from Kevin Folsom and Aristote Pierre to drop the Crusaders to 1-9.

Goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had four saves, including one on a penalty kick, to get his second shutout of the season. The Panthers had 16-7 shot advantage and 7-4 on goal edge.

After a scoreless first half, the Crusaders had a golden opportunity to get the first goal of the match. A foul by the Panthers gave the Crusaders a penalty kick. Palmer made a diving stop to knock away Chris White's shot to keep the Crusaders from scoring.

The Panthers took advantage of a penalty kick in the 63rd minute. Folsom beat goalkeeper Nelson Garley to put the Panthers up 1-0. It was Folsom's second goal of the season, both coming on penalty kicks.

The Panthers added an insurance goal eight minutes later. Aristote Pierre broke down the middle after taking a pass from Harry Hinson. He got past a defender and easily beat Garley for his second goal of the year.

The Panther defenders did not allow a shot by the Crusaders in the final 20 minutes of the match. Palmer stopped a shot by Ceaser Carilo for his fourth and final save.

The Panthers host Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday.
