Covenant downs Panthers 5-1

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Covenant College opened up a large halftime lead and went on to a 5-1 win over LaGrange College on Saturday at Scotland Yard. The loss dropped the Panthers to 5-5 on the season, while the Scots improved to 9-3.

The Scots got two goals each from Chris Pifer and Julian Allgeier. Allgeier also had two assists. The Scots outshot the Panthers 30-7 in the game.

The Panthers used three goalkeepers in the game. Matthew Gaylord did not allow a goal and had three saves in 19 minutes. Josh Murphy allowed a goal and had five saves in 26 minutes.

Covenant led 4-0 at halftime. Allgeier scored just 27 seconds into the second half for the Scots' final goal.

Drew Kellum scored in the 71st minute for the Panthers. He scored on a breakaway volley over goalkeeper Ryan Ostrowski.

The Panthers host Huntingdon in a GSAC game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
