Panthers top Atlanta Christian for second straight win

EAST POINT, Ga. – LaGrange College edged Atlanta Christian College 2-1 on the road Tuesday. It was the second straight win for the Panthers, now 3-2. Atlanta Christian dropped to 4-4.

The Panthers got a second half goal from Drew Kellum to break a 1-1 tie. Kellum's goal came in the 72nd minute. It was the freshman's first collegiate goal.

LaGrange took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of the game. Junior Brock Morris scored off a free kick for the first goal of the game. It was Morris' first goal of the season.

The Panthers held the lead the rest of the half. The Chargers tied the game 15 minutes into the second half. The Chargers' Jimmy Webb scored unassisted tie the game 1-1.

The Panthers got the game-winner 12 minutes later. Harry Hinson lofted a pass over to Kellum on the right side. Kellum beat goalkeeper Thomas Werner with a shot inside the far post to put the Panthers up 2-1.

LaGrange goalkeeper Donnie Palmer had five saves in the game. The Panthers outshot the Chargers 16-11 in the game.

The Panthers play at Warren Wilson on Saturday.
