Georgia Southwestern pulls away from Panthers with big second half
The match was scoreless until the
35th minute of the first half. Will Phillips scored unassisted to
put the Hurricanes up 1-0, where it remained until halftime.
The Hurricanes went up 3-0 in the second half. Kacey Bernard scored
off an assist from Yimi Reyes. Less than 15 minutes later, Ross
Sellars scored with an assist from Sean Howe.
In a span of five minutes late in the match, there were three
goals. The Hurricanes received an own goal after the Panthers
knocked the ball into their net trying to clear it.
The Panthers avoided the shutout in the 86th minute. Cameron
Williams sent a pass down the middle to Ryan Wakenigg. Wakenigg put
the ball into the bottom right of the goal from 10 yards out. The
Hurricanes closed out the scoring on a penalty kick by Taylor
Jennings less than a minute after Wakenigg's goal.
The Panthers host Oglethorpe on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
