Piedmont downs Panthers with second half goals
Piedmont enjoyed a 12-2 shot advantage
in the match. The Lions also had an 8-5 advantage in corner
kicks. Piedmont scored in the
match's first minute. Sidney Smith scored off an assist from Brian
Ruelbach to put the Lions up 1-0.
The Panthers tied the match late in the first half. Cameron
Williams scored on a penalty kick with four minutes left in the
half. For Williams, it was his team-leading ninth goal of the
season.
The Lions broke the tie with 15 minutes left in the match. Jorge
Pradilla got the go-ahead goal with an assist from Nick Weatherby.
Tom Von Berg scored unassisted with two minutes left in the match
for the 3-1 final.
The Panthers host Maryville in a GSAC match on Sunday at 4 p.m.
