Williams' three goals lead Panthers past Toccoa Falls

It was the second time this season Williams has scored three goals in a match. He had three in a 6-1 win over Atlanta Christian on Sept. 25. Williams leads the Panthers with eight goals this season.

Ryan Wakenigg started in goal for the Panthers in place of Josh Murphy, who missed the game due to illness. Wakenigg had three saves in his first start of the season.

Williams scored his first goal only five minutes into the match. Aristote Kamba sent a crossing pass over to Williams, who beat goalkeeper Travis Julian to the left side of the net for the game's first goal.

Williams put the Panthers up 2-0 with his second goal 15 minutes later. The Eagles turned the ball over deep in their end and Williams beat Julian with a shot into an open net. The Panthers carried the lead into halftime.

It remained 2-0 until the final 10 minutes of the match. The Eagles halved the Panthers' lead when David Brown scored on a penalty kick after the Panthers were called for a hand ball in the box.

Toccoa tied the game at 2-2 less than two minutes after Brown's goal. Joseph Vinson beat Wakenigg for the tying goal with 7:19 left in the match.

Williams got the winning goal less than a minute after Vinson's goal. Robert Bullington sent a free kick toward the goal from near midfield. Julian could not secure the ball and Williams headed in the ball for a 3-2 lead.

The Panthers finished the match with a 22-9 shot advantage. The Panthers had 10 shots on goal in the match.

The Panthers play at Piedmont in a GSAC match on Wednesday.
