Men's Basketball: Keene State tops Panthers 84-80 at Music City Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Keene State topped LaGrange 84-80 at the Music City Classic being played at Volunteer State Community College on Friday night. The loss left the Panthers at 4-5, while the Owls improved to 8-2.

Alex Bonner led the Panthers with 17 points. Gary Bishop and Julian Cameron each had 15 points off the bench. Bishop was 6-of-7 from the field, including making both of his 3-point attempts. Travis Thompson led the team with nine rebounds.

The game was tied seven times and the lead changed another eight times. Duncan Parker's layup gave LC its biggest lead of the game, 72-66, with 4:20 left. The Panthers still held a 80-77 lead after Bonner's basket with 1:38 remaining. But the Owls outscored the Panthers 7-0 the rest of the way to pull out the win.

The game was tied at 39 at halftime. The Panthers trailed 39-30 but went on a 9-0 run to close out the half. Cameron converted a 4-point play to start the run. Bishop made the second of two free throws to tie the game.

The Panthers close out the tournament Saturday against Farleigh Dickinson.
