Panthers rally in closing seconds to beat Pensacola Christian

The Panthers placed six players in double figures in the game. Nic Whitfield led the scoring with 15 points and added 10 rebounds to complete his team-leading fifth double-double of the season. Joe Cromwell and Marcus Vaughn had 13 points each. Vaughn had a game-high 12 rebounds to complete his fourth double-double of the season.

Blake Craft, Dillon McLaughlin and Stephen Spivey all had 11 points. Craft had a perfect shooting night. He was 3-for-3 from the floor; all 3-pointers and 2-for-2 at the free throw line.

The Panthers trailed 79-74 with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Craft hit a 3-pointer to cut the Eagles' lead to 79-77. McLaughlin made a steal at the defensive end completed a three-point play at the offensive end to put the Panthers up 80-79 with 14 seconds left.

The Panthers stopped the Eagles on their next possession. Spivey was fouled pulling down a rebound. He made one of the two free throws to make it 81-79. The Eagles missed a desperation shot at the buzzer.

The Panthers play at Piedmont on Saturday in a GSAC game. Game time is 4 p.m.
