In Wednesday's game, Emory (4-1) overcame a couple of Panther leads in the first half, then pulled away in the second half. The Eagles shot 56.3 percent from the floor and held a decisive 45-23 advantage on the boards. The Panthers also turned the ball over 17 times.

Nic Whitfield led the Panthers with a game-high 24 points. Dillon McLaughlin and Joe Cromwell had 13 and 12 points respectively. Emory had all 15 players who entered the game score at least a point. Daniel Curtin and Alex Greven had 12 points each for the Eagles.

The Panthers had an early four point lead in the game. McLaughlin hit a 3-pointer to put the Panthers up 10-6 with over 16 minutes left in the first half. Emory came back with an 11-0 run to take a 17-10 lead.

The Panthers responded with a run of their own. The Panthers outscored the Eagles 11-2 over a three-minute span to go up 21-19. Clay Wages' 3-pointer finished the spurt and put the Panthers up 21-19.

Chad Hixon's basket off the fast break put Emory ahead to stay. The Eagles led 42-30 at halftime. In the second half, Emory continued to build on its lead. The Eagles had their largest lead, 85-51, with 9:10 left in the game.

The Panthers host Greensboro on Saturday at Mariotti Gym. Game time is 2 p.m. Fans coming to the game are asked to bring a toy to donate to the Panther Toy Store.
