Junior Logan Lanier is now the No. 1 NCAA Division III player in the Golfstat rankings released Wednesday. In addition, Lanier was named the USA South Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 22.
Lanier is the first LC golfer to be top-ranked since Michael Lemmo was 10 years ago. He was named the conference player of the week after finishing second at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
Lanier entered the tournament ranked third in the Golfstat rankings. He posted rounds of 69, 67, and 70 for a 10-under par total of 206, one shot out of first. The second round 67 was a collegiate best for the St. Augustine, Fla. native.
Lanier helped the Panthers overcome a eight-shot deficit over the final four holes to win the Jekyll Island tournament for the second straight year. The win moved the Panthers up eight spots to No. 11 in the Golfstat Division III team rankings.
