Golf: Panthers in second after two rounds of Chick-fil-A Invitational

ROME, Ga. - The LaGrange golf team sits in second place after two rounds of the Chick-fil-A Invitational on Monday. The tournament is being played at the Stonebridge Golf Club.

The Panthers had rounds of 293 and 290 for a 583 total. Tournament host Berry leads the tournament. The Panthers lead fellow USA South members Piedmont (5th), Maryville (8th) N.C. Wesleyan (9th), and Covenant 12th).

Junior Anthony Scolapio had the low score in the first round for the Panthers. Scolapio tied his career best set as a freshman with a 2-under par 70. He had a 1-over par 73 in the second round and is tied for fifth in the individual standings with a 143 total.

Juniors Logan Lanier and Osborn Theam posted rounds of 2-over par 74. Freshman Jake Haggerty, playing in his first tournament of the fall, had a 3-over par 75. Sophomore Eric Havixbeck rounded out the Panthers' scoring with an 84.

Havixbeck bounced back in the second round with a career-best 2-under par 70. Lanier shot a 71 and is eighth in the individual standings at 145. Haggerty had a 76 and Theam an 81 to complete the scoring for the Panthers.

The tournament concludes Tuesday and is the final one of the fall for the Panthers.
