MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Senior Cory Howard and sophomore Logan Lanier led the LaGrange golf team to its third title of the spring, winning the Wynlakes Intercollegiate Invitational by six shots over Guilford.
The Panthers shot a four-under par team score of 284 for a two-day total of 577. Guilford and Rhodes playing with the Panthers in the final round, followed at 583 and 589 respectively.
Howard won his second championship of the spring, shooting a final round 68 for a 139 total, three shots better than Guilford's Ty Palmer. Howard had five birdies against only one bogey over the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club course.
Lanier tied his season and career best with a closing 69 to tie for fourth and earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. He moved up 14 spots after a first round 76.
Joining Howard and Lanier in the top 10 was sophomore Osborn Theam. Theam had a final round 72 to tie for sixth with a 146 total.
The Panthers play in the Emory Spring Invitational on April 6-7, being played at the Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Ga.
