Golf: Panthers end fall season with third place finish at Golfweek Division III Fall Preview

SANDESTIN, Fla. - The ninth-ranked LaGrange golf team concluded their fall season with a third place finish at the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview played on The Raven Course. In four tournaments, the Panthers had three top-five finishes.

The Panthers posted a final round total of 290, the second best team score of the day, and had a tournament score of 874. The Panthers were five shots back of co-champions Methodist and Texas-Tyler.

The Panthers were two shots ahead of top-ranked Oglethorpe and 11 shots in front of defending Division III national champion Schreiner.

Senior Cory Howard shot an even par 71 to place third in the individual standings, his third straight top five finish in tournament. Sophomore Osborn Theam moved up eight spots on the leaderboard to tie for fifth with a one-under par 70.

Sophomore Anthony Scolapio recovered from a second round 82 with a one-over par 72. Scolapio was three over par after two holes, but reeled off 15 pars and a birdie on his last 16 holes.

Sophomore Logan Lanier had a five-over 76 to tie for 19th. Freshman Jake Nelson completed his first collegiate tournament with an 81.
