Golf: Panthers tied for fourth after two rounds at Gordin Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The LaGrange golf team is tied for fourth after the first two rounds of the Gordin Classic being played at the Columbus Country Club. The tournament is hosted by Ohio Northern and is limited to the top 11 finishers at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship. 

The Panthers had rounds of 295 and 306 on Monday. They are tied with USA South rival Methodist. Guilford leads the tournament, followed by Rhodes and top-ranked Oglethorpe.

Sophomore Logan Lanier leads the Panthers with a 1-over par total of 145, tying him for fifth in the individual standings. Lanier shot his best round as a collegian, firing a 3-under par 69 in the second round.

Senior Cory Howard is two shots back of Lanier and tied for 12th. Howard shot a 2-under par 70 in the first round. Sophomore Osborn Theam is at 151, then Anthony Scolapio (158) and Eric Havixbeck (169).

The tournament ends with a single round Tuesday. The Panthers play in the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational on Oct. 6-7.
