Golf: Panthers fifth after two rounds at Tournament Town Championship Preview

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The LaGrange golf team moved into fifth place after two rounds at the Tournament Town Championship Preview being played at the Grandover Resort.

The Panthers shot the second lowest round with a team score of 286, moving up in the standings from a tie for eighth in the 17-team field. They improved 17 shots from a first round score of 303.

Leading the Panthers is sophomore Osborn Theam, who is second with a five-under par 139. Theam had a first round 69 and followed it with a second round 70.

Theam's teamates all improved over the first round scores. Sophomore Logan Lanier moved up 13 spots in the standings with a second round 71 and has a 147 total to tie for 19th.

The team's lone senior, Cory Howard, made the biggest jump in the standings. Howard tied Theam with his second round 70, going from a tie for 51st to a tie for 24th.

Freshman Eric Havixbeck shot a 75 in the second round and has a 155 total. Sophomore Anthony Scolapio is three shots back Havixbeck with a score of 158 after shooting a 77.

The tournament concludes Monday. The Panthers play in the Gordin Classic at the Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 28-30.
