Golf: Rain suspends completion of third round at Division III Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After battling the heat and wind on Wednesday, the LaGrange golf team faced rain Thursday in the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship being played at the Grandover Golf Club's East Course.

The Panthers, after a four-hour delay, played in a steady rain before play was suspended until Friday morning. The Panthers will complete the third round, then immediately begin playing the final round.

Senior Freddie Wolford and freshman Osborn Theam are leading the Panthers in the third round. Wolford is four-over par on his round as he was on his 18th hole when play was stopped.

Theam is also at four-over and making a run on his final nine holes. He had a birdie on hole number two, then drained a 60-foot putt for another birdie on four.

The Panthers are headed for their best finish ever in an NCAA tournament. The 2009 squad finished 18th.
