Golf: Panthers in second after first round of Golfweek Fall Invitational

SANDESTIN, Fla. - The LaGrange golf team is two shots back after Sunday's first round of the Golfweek Fall Invitational. The 18-team field is made up many of the top Division III teams in the country.

The Panthers shot a team score of 286 to trail first round leader Oglethorpe. Rhodes is one shot back of the Panthers in third place.

Freshman Anthony Scolapio is tied for third in the individual standings after a one-under par 70 on the Raven Golf Club course. Scolapio overcame a double bogey with the help of four birdies on the day.

Junior Cory Howard was a shot back of Scolapio with an even par 70. Howard is the defending individual champion. He had three bogeys and birdies each in his round.

Freshmen Logan Lanier and Osborn Theam followed with rounds of 72 and 73. Sophomore Alex Ball had an 80 to round out the Panthers' scoring. 

The tournament will continue through Tuesday.
