Golf: Panthers' Howard selected to play in NCAA Division III Championship

Sophomore Cory Howard has been selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 14-17, at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Fla. The tournament will held on The Raven Golf Club and The Links Golf Club courses.

Howard is ranked fourth individually in the Golfstat Division III rankings. He was a first team USA South All-Conference selection and earned a spot on the USA South All-Tournament team with a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.

Howard is familiar with Sandestin's Raven course.  He won the Golfweek Fall Preview last October on the course for his first collegiate individual championship.

Howard was the only golfer in the tournament to shoot under par all three rounds. He had rounds of 69, 68 and 68 for a tournament total of 205; winning by six shots. Howard made only four bogeys in the tournament and did not make a bogey during his second round. He went 26 straight holes at one point without a bogey.

Howard will play his first round on the par 72 Links course. He will play the next round on the Raven course. The final two rounds of the tournament will be on the Raven course.
