GREENSBORO, N.C. - The LaGrange golf team finished strong at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial on Tuesday. The Panthers shot the second best team score of the day to finish sixth in the tournament.
The Panthers shot a team score of 296, second only to tournament winner Methodist's 285 total. The Panthers recovered nicely after a first round score of 317 left them in eighth place.
In the first round, only sophomore Cory Howard broke 80 on the The Cardinal Golf & Country Club course. Howard had another strong showing, tying for second with Methodist's Jeff Wells in the individual standings after rounds of 72 and 71 for a three-over par 143. Wells' teammate, Mike Wesko, won the tournament with a one-over par total of 141.
James Liang recovered from a first round 82 to tie Howard for the team's best second round score. Victor Choi had a second round 76 for a 157 total. Jake Andrews had rounds of 82 and 78 for a 160 total. David Hensley shot 82 for both rounds of the tournament.
The tournament concluded the Panthers' fall schedule. The Panthers finished in the top 10 in all four tournaments, including a second-place finish at the Golfweek Fall Invitational.
