Golf: Panthers set to start fifth NCAA championship appearance

The LaGrange golf team begins play Tuesday in the NCAA Division III Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort and Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Panthers are making their fifth appearance in the last six years in the tournament and ninth overall national tournament appearance.

Senior Hudson Keener will be trying to earn All-American honors for the third straight year. Keener finished third in last year's championships. He has won four tournaments this spring, including the Great South Athletic Conference championship tournament for the second straight year.

The Panthers are paired with Illinois Wesleyan and Washington & Jefferson the first two rounds. Illinois Wesleyan is ranked sixth nationally and the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin champion. The Titans were runners-up to Greensboro in 2011 and are making their sixth straight appearance in the tournament. Washington & Jefferson is the President's Athletic Conference champion.
