Golf: Panthers capture second straight Reeder Cup championship

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The LaGrange golf team captured its second straight Reeder Cup championship Tuesday at the Lookout Mountain Country Club. The Panthers have won three of the past four Reeder Cup titles.

The Panthers defeated the University of Mobile by 15 shots. The Panthers had a two-day team total of 616 over the par-70 course. Tournament host Covenant College finished two shots back of Mobile.

Senior Hudson Keener led the Panthers by winning the individual championship for the second straight year. Keener had rounds of 72-74 for a 146 total, seven shots better than Mobile's Zach Day. Keener also won at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational earlier this spring.

Cory Howard followed Keener with rounds of 76-78 for a 154 total and a third place finish. Freddie Wolford tied for seventh with rounds of 83-76 for a 159 total. Hunter Keener and Victor Choi tied for ninth with three other golfers with a total score of 160.

The Panthers play at the Emory Invitational at the Druid Hills Country Club in Atlanta on April 9-10.
