Golf: Panthers finish 12th at Jekyll Island Collegiate
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The LaGrange golf team finished 12th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Panthers finished with a three-day team total of 903.
The Panthers finished two shots back of 11th place Otterbein and eight back of 10th place Greensboro. Methodist won the tournament by 12 shots over tournament host Oglethorpe.
The Panthers improved on their 18th place finish from last year's tournament. They also were 19 strokes lower on their total team score from last year.
Hudson Keener shot his third consecutive one-over par 73 to finish tied for 15th in the individual standings. Freddie Wolford followed Keener with a final round 78 for a 227 tournament total. Hunter Keener shot 79 on Sunday to finish at 229. Victor Choi had his best round of the tournament, finishing with a 75 for a 233 total. Cory Howard had an 80 and a 234 total.
The Panthers play in the Reeder Cup on April 2-3. They are the defending champions, along with Hudson Keener, who won the individual championship.
