Golf: Panthers finish tied for third at Pine Needles Intercollegiate

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The LaGrange golf finished in a tie for third at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate played at the PIne Needles Lodge and Club. It was the first tournament of the spring for the Panthers.

The Panthers started Tuesday's final round with a three stroke lead over top-ranked and tournament host Guilford. The Panthers shot a final round team score of 318 as the Quakers went on to win the tournament. Bridgewater (Va.) finished second and Washington and Lee tied with the Panthers.

Hudson Keener had the Panthers' low round of the day. Keener shot a 78 over the par-71 course and tied for ninth in the individual standings. Freddie Wolford followed with a 79 after a first round 84.

Cory Howard had a final round 80 after a first round 72. He tied with Keener in the individual standings. David Hensley had an 81 and Hunter Keener an 82 to round out the scoring for the Panthers.

The Panthers play in the Berry Invitational at the Stonebridge Country Club in Rome on March 5-6.
