Panthers tied for 22nd after first round at  Division III golf championships


HERSHEY, Pa. - LaGrange College's golf team is tied for 22nd after the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The Panthers shot a team score of 318 in rainy and cold conditions on the par-71 Hershey Country Club East course.

The Panthers trail first round leader Skidmore by 27 shots. Skidmore had a first round score of 295. Franklin & Marshall, Otterbein, Greensboro and Guilford rounded out the top five.

Hudson Keener was the only Panther to shoot below 80 on Tuesday. Keener shot a three-over par 74 and is tied for 17th in the individual standings. He had nine bogeys and six birdies in his first round, finishing with a birdie on the par 4 18th hole.

Hunter Keener and Brian More each had identical rounds of 81. Bo Tiller had an 82 and Adam Garrett an 86 to round the Panthers' scoring.

The tournament continues through Friday. The field will be cut to 23 teams after the second round.
