Visiting Berry outlasted LaGrange 52-37 on Saturday before a large crowd at Callaway Stadium. The game was the home opener for the Panthers, now 1-1.
The two teams combined for over 900 yards of offense. LC had 488 total yards in the game. Quarterback Connor Blair threw for 360 yards, 264 in the second half as the Panthers tried to catch the Vikings.
Nicholas Searcy ran for 66 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. He added two receptions for another 32 yards.
Berry's Austin Lowe led all rushers with 169 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings finished the game with 304 yards rushing. They only completed eight passes, but five went for touchdowns.
The Vikings led 24-9 at halftime. Zack Kudwa accounted for all of the Panthers' scoring in the first half with field goals of 32, 21, and 26 yards.
The two teams put up 28 points in the second half as the Vikings kept their 15-point halftime lead. The Panthers had 317 yards of offense in the half. They scored on all four second half possessions.
The Panthers close out their non-conference schedule next week at Ave Maria (Fla.).
