LaGrange placed nine players on the USA South All-Conference Baseball teams as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Junior Blake Butcher was named the Player of the Year and a first team All-Conference selection at third base. (See separate story). Butcher was joined on the first team by junior Joe Pradat (Second base), junior Chad Pigg (catcher), and junior Ryan Broaderick (starting pitcher).
Pradat is batting .333 with 14 RBIs and has committed only five errors at second base. Pigg is batting .308 and is third on the team with 30 RBIs. He is tied for the team lead with Butcher and Casey Bell with four sacrifice flies. Broaderick is 7-2 with a team and conference leading 1.65 ERA. He is second on the team in wins and leads with two complete games and shutouts each.
Casey Bell (designated hitter), Cain Sauls (first base), Tavin Thompson (shortstop), Keith Sims (outfield), and Eric Morell (starting pitcher) were second team selections. Bell is batting .329 with two home runs and second on the team with 37 RBIs. He leads the conference and NCAA Division III with 21 sacrifice hits. Sauls is batting .343 and is second on the team with three home runs to go with 26 RBIs. He has a .990 fielding percentage, making only four errors in 401 chances.
Thompson is second on the team and fourth in the conference with a .391 batting average. He leads the team in runs scored (41), on-base percentage (.506),walks (26), and stolen bases (17). Sims is batting .331 with a home run and 21 RBIs. He is second on the team with 13 stolen bases. Sims also represents the Panthers on the All-Sportsmanship team. Morell is the team leader in wins with an 8-1 record and 3.32 ERA. He is tied for the conference and Division III lead in wins. Morell leads the Panthers' pitching staff with 51 strikeouts in 59-2/3 innings pitched.
