Baseball: Ozarks rallies to down Panthers in Millsaps Tournament

JACKSON, Miss. - Ozarks (Ark.) rallied to down LaGrange 5-4 on Saturday in the Millsaps Tournament.

The Panthers (3-3) jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead. Cain Sauls drove in the first run of the inning with an RBI single, scoring Tavin Thompson, who led off with a walk. Elijah Braque reached on an error as Blake Butcher came home on the play. Chad Pigg capped the inning with a two-run double.

Ozarks (1-1) chipped away at the Panthers' lead. The Eagles got a run in the third, another in the fourth, and two more to tie the game in the fifth.

The Eagles pushed across the go-ahead run in the ninth off reliever Adam DeWitt (0-1). The Panthers got back-to-back two-out singles by Keith Sims and Thompson, but could not get the tying run across.

The Panthers had seven hits in the game. Blane Swift had two hits in the game.

Josh Smith started on the mound for the Panthers. He pitched into the fifth, allowing four runs, three were earned. Austin Brown pitched 3-2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

The Panthers close out the tournament Sunday against host Millsaps.
