Baseball: Panthers fall to No. 19 Methodist in final game of season

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - LaGrange closed out its 2015 season with a 4-1 loss to No. 19 Methodist on Monday at Armstrong-Shelley Field.

The Panthers ended the season with a 13-24 record, including 12-15 in the USA South. Methodist is now 32-8 and 24-6 in the conference.

Zach Tatham (3-5) started for the Panthers and went five innings. He scattered seven hits, allowed three runs and walked a batter.

Blake Schuck followed Tatham and gave up a run in two innings. Josh Bricker pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

The Panthers avoided the shutout with a run in the ninth inning. They loaded the bases on base hits from Alec Redden and Chris Laye, then a bunt single by Keith Sims. Redden scored as Jackson Patrick reached on a fielder's choice. 

Laye had two of the Panthers' seven hits. Grant Perry and Jim Reed each had a double.
